Holiday Hair
With Thanksgiving right around the corner and Christmas a few weeks away, I don't need to remind ANYONE of the parties and events that are coming up within the next few weeks. Most of us like to look our best for the holidays because we will be seeing family and friends. We shop and plan and put together some great outfits and dishes in order to impress our co-workers and family members. The element of impression that most of us forget to perfect is of course, OUR HAIR. How great can an outfit look if someone's hair is "lackluster"? How many times can you wear an outfit? Do you wear it everyday? But you wear your hair everyday. Right? Why are you not taking care of the most important asset that you possess? A great hairstyle or a shiny, healthy head of hair is a lot more attention-grabbing than a trendy sweater or dress that you MAY wear twice during the holidays. So do yourself a favor this holiday season: Get a Gloss on your hair to add shine and health. Have your hair styled for one of your holiday parties. Buy those products that you have been wanting to buy, because in reality, your hair is your most recognized accessory. The more you take good care of it, the better you are going to feel come party time.

Naturally Beautiful Bride w/ Trendsetting Bridesmaids
This past weekend, I had the pleasure of doing what I LOVE to do best... A WEDDING! :) I did 2 bridesmaids' hair, the bride's hair and 2 bridesmaids faces of make-up. This wedding took place at the bride's grandmother's home which was UNBELIEVABLE! (I was waiting on Rhett Butler to make an appearance.)
The bride was very laid back and naturally GORGEOUS! She wanted her hair to be loose, all pulled back and BIG. (I LOVE BIG!) Here are a few pics of her run-through and then the BIG DAY:)
She was a BEAUTIFUL bride! The next pictures are of one of the bridesmaids. As you will see, both bridesmaids wanted HIGH Buns (Top Knots). These styles are a HUGE trend right now! I get requests for them ALL THE TIME and see them all over TV and Magazines. These are SUCH a GREAT OPTION bc they are versatile and can be dressed up or down. They pull your face up (think mini facelift) and draw attention to your best feature, YOUR FACE! These can be done messy or sleek. The possibilities are endless. The first bridesmaid is an example of a sleek look.
This second bridesmaid is an example of a more updated, modern version. This incorporates a french braid up the back of the head into the top knot. I also did this bridesmaids make-up. When I do make up, my goal is to make the girl's features POP in pictures. :)
As always, I had a GREAT time working with these girls. It was a great atmosphere, full of LOVE:)
There Is No Age Limit On Hair Length
One thing that I will never understand is that women seem to have certain age limit in their heads as to when long hair is no longer appropriate. I am in COMPLETE disagreement with this notion. In my opinion, as long as a woman has healthy hair that is full enough to wear long, AND does what it takes to maintain the shape and color, well, my friends, age is not a factor. If anything, some women need to wear longer hair due to their face shape, head shape, body type, etc.....Here is an example of AGE-APPROPRIATE HAIR (cut, color and style). This is a client of mine in her 60s and is a grandmother of 2. Her longer hair is HEALTHY, SHINY, and FULL. I do her cut and her color and I use warmer tones with her color to keep her skin glowing and soften her features.

A Glamorous, Modern, Southern Bride
So, the name of this Bride is Ashley Norris (now Hobbs). She and I go WAY back! We graduated from high school together and continued to keep in touch through college. When I started doing hair, Ashley became a client of mine. We had and currently still have a contract with WACH FOX News. Ashley was an anchor there at the time and I did her hair back then while she was on air.
So, I knew how fun Ashley was and I knew that she would definitely want fun and BIG hair. She wanted OVER THE TOP, Glamorous Hair. Ashley is a beautiful girl and has a BEAUTIFUL head of hair. So I had a GREAT canvas to start with. Below I am going to post a lot of pictures of hair from her wedding day. My best friend and co-worker, Fran Smith, helped me with the hair. I think we each had 12 heads of hair the day of the wedding. You will notice that all bridesmaids' hair were styled the same. Each was required to have a side, messy bun pulled to the right side of their head. We could be creative and accommodate the girls' wishes as far as their preference on the rest of the up-do (ex: volume, braids, twists, bangs, parts, etc.). The Honorary Bridesmaids were able to do whatever they wanted, as long as the hair was pulled back all the way. The Jr. Bridesmaids were just required to have the same style. And the BEAUTIFUL mother of the bride wanted something fun and elegant. She wanted to look appropriate but not matronly. We also did a complete hair style change at the reception. So enough talking about it....HERE IT IS:)
This was definitely a FUN wedding and I had fun the ENTIRE day!
***And on a side note I must give Corey Potter, the photographer, KUDOS! He did a BRILLIANT job!
